Roles and Responsibilities of Contractor in Construction

Responsibility of a contractor in the construction is to ensure that the work is executed properly and monitor the activities that are required for the completion of project.

Various aspects of the project are incorporated like instance project planning, management, monitoring, construction site safety, and legal issues. A contractor is a person or an organization hired by the client to complete the project.

Project planning Responsibilities

Firstly, plan the project development in advance then estimation part will come like material, equipment requirement and their costs etc. They have to ensure that health and safety specifications should be followed. Ensure that communication with all parties will be smooth. Determine legal and regulatory requirements.

Project Management

To manage budget for the completion of construction activities. They need to manage equipment, materials, and other services required for smooth flow of the project. Have to manage generated waste. Submit bills based on terms of contract documents.

Project Monitoring

Project should be monitored in terms of schedule, safety, work quality, and other project-related details as specified in the project contract. Economic construction equipment should be adopted if possible. As per latest change project should be modified and updated.

Legal and Regulatory Responsibilities

Building permit application should be granted and that responsibility is of the contractor. Ensure that the project is acting in accordance with required legal and regulatory issues.

Health and Safety Responsibilities

Risk management strategies, emergency response system and other preventive means for construction site safety should be followed. Make sure that all individual at construction site utilize safety equipment. Provide safety awareness to workers.
